Key Responsibilities
Reporting to the Manager Port Operations, the Marine Surveyor will join an existing team and is responsible for conducting vessel and barge surveys, Inner Harbor and Outer Harbor surveys, mooring and load planning, overseeing the CSL transshipment operations in the Spencer Gulf at Whyalla and Terminal Ship Loading operations (Loadmaster responsibilities) at Port Bonython. You will also be responsible for the distribution of survey reports to clients, performing Ship Loading activities and assisting staff at each location. Although the role is based in Whyalla, the role is required to provide relief coverage and carry out duties when necessary in the regional ports.
About you
To be successful in this role, you will have previous experience in conducting draft surveys and coordinating the functions of personnel engaged in marine activities. You will have Chief Officer's Certificate or Deck Officer's Certificate as well as Tanker vessel operations experience.
Knowledge of the Dangerous Substances Act, Work Health and Safety and Welfare Act, 1986, Harbors and Navigation Act and Regulations, 1993 and Regional Port Infrastructure Assets will be desirable.

Essential qualifications and experience:
- Current driver's license
- VHF Marine Radio Certificate (SROCP)
- Draft Survey Certified
- Tanker vessel operations experience
- Sound knowledge of shipping operations and general port requirements
- Competent swimming ability
Desirable:
- Supervisory Training
- Risk and Hazard management training
- Experience conducting Marine Surveys and interpreting load plans
Working Hours
After-hours work will be required as a part of this role and as such flexibility to work with ever-changing shipping demands is a requirement.
This position is to be based in Whyalla, South Australia with relocation assistance available for the successful candidate.
