Who we are
NORSTA Maritime is the Regional Maintenance Provider for both the North (Darwin) and North-East (Cairns, Head Office) and delivers project management capabilities, technical expertise and quality assurance activities for the Royal Australian Navy fleet.

Our advanced maritime sustainment planning coordinates fleet maintenance at scale across Far North Queensland, including Northern Australia and adjacent waters for the Commonwealth of Australia. 

Due to high demand, we are expanding rapidly and developing further capacity for more vessel platforms.  

About the roles
Due to growth and expansion in the RMP-NE contract, we are seeking two experienced and capable Project Managers for NORSTA's Head Office in Cairns:

  1. Planned Maintenance Project Manager
  2. Unplanned/Expeditionary Project Manager

As a NORSTA Project Manager, you will work with a team of experienced maritime maintenance engineering and support staff to deliver maintenance to vessels in NORSTA's charge.

Your responsibilities include:

  • Lead and participate in maintenance planning activities
  • Ensuring maintenance delivery runs according to schedule and on budget
  • Manage sub-contractors during maintenance activities
  • Manage and ensure compliance around reporting (including financial) legislative and contractual requirements in relation to maintenance activities, including capturing evidence (OQE) and completion of reports in the Data Management System (DMS)
  • Engagement with key stakeholders and supply chain
  • Report and analyse maintenance and technical data.

The roles are based in Cairns. 

NOTE: As a condition of this role, you must be able to obtain (and hold) Baseline Defence security clearance, which requires Australian Citizenship. A National Police Check will also be undertaken. 

About you
As a professional with experience in maritime asset management, you will be an exceptional leader with excellent interpersonal skills. 

You will also possess:

  • Significant project management skills in the maritime industry, demonstrating successful maintenance management across a variety of RAN vessel classes
  • Knowledge and understanding of RAN engineering management tools, OEM portals and processes
  • Excellent reporting and data analysis skills with the ability to present information in an accessible and knowledgeble manner
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Demonstrated experience in stakeholder engagement
  • Customer-focused and prioritises customer needs and wants 
  • Uncompromising commitment to environmental, health and safety standards
  • Role-model inspirational leadership and personal behaviours
  • Tertiary and/or technical/trade qualifications in related area.
