Are you a seasoned professional with exceptional problem-solving skills, tact, and discretion? We are seeking a dynamic individual to oversee and direct our Meat Department and its dedicated staff. As the Meat Department Manager, you will play a crucial role in scheduling, staffing, training, coaching, counseling, and reviewing the department's personnel. Your responsibilities will extend to collaborating with various levels of management, resolving issues, implementing safety procedures, and ensuring the highest standards of production.
Daily Responsibilities:
- Develop, coach, counsel, and direct Meat Department personnel, actively monitoring and providing feedback for performance improvement.
- Participate in the employment process, making recommendations for hiring, promotion, and termination.
- Review department profit and loss statements, developing and implementing sales and merchandising plans.
- Determine production requirements, participate in meat cutting, and oversee merchandise presentation and merchandising.
- Ensure health code compliance through regular review of sanitation logs.
- Approve and submit physical inventory and orders to the buying office for equipment, merchandise, and supplies.
- Implement proper maintenance and repairs for machinery and equipment.
- Provide prompt and courteous customer service to members, employees, and vendors.
- Communication: Clearly articulate information, both verbally and in writing. Actively listen to employees, members, and other managers to efficiently address department issues.
- Member Service: Exhibit a professional demeanor, maintain composure under stress, and unselfishly serve others. Provide constructive feedback, teach employees, and address problems or conflicts.
- Self-Motivated: Well-organised, able to prioritise tasks, delegate appropriately, and adhere to deadlines. Maintain honesty, integrity, and high levels of efficiency and accuracy.
- Team Player: Relate well to various personalities, empower and lead employees, create positive morale, and delegate responsibilities effectively.
- Flexibility: Adjust positively to change, focus on multiple tasks during a shift, respond professionally to constructive criticism, and adjust the work schedule as necessary.
Computer Skills: Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word).
Licenses and Certifications: Food Safety Certification & Butcher/Trade Qualification.
Other Skills and Abilities: Good communication, strong interpersonal, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Basic math skills.
