About the role
We are currently looking for a Leading Hand Mechanics to join our Plant Fleet Services Workshop team. They are a crucial part of Logan City Council providing maintenance and repair services to Councils extensive range of Plant, Vehicles and Equipment. In your new role you will be a part of the experienced team who are responsible for servicing, maintaining, and repairing Council's fleet of vehicles and equipment adhering to strict roadworthy and compliance requirements while contributing to other workshop duties as requested by the Workshop Operations Supervisor. The successful applicant’s role will include carrying out mechanical and minor electrical repairs and maintenance to Councils extensive fleet including light and heavy vehicle repairs, servicing and inspection, fault finding and troubleshooting, use of electronic diagnostic tools, minor body repairs and welding, brake testing and utilising other workshop/ fleet related equipment.
Elements of the role include:
Oversee the delivery of services to maintain and repair fleet assets
Provide advice and direction to staff
Promote a workplace of excellence by your actions and attention to detail
Foster and maintain relationships with key stakeholders
Provide expert technical advice and guidance to drive continuous improvement
Conduct quality assurance inspections of works completed by staff
Ensuring compliance with all workplace health and safety statues, regulations, prescribed procedures, obligations, and responsibilities
Minimum requirements of the role include:
Trade certificate qualification in Heavy Commercial Vehicle Technology
Vehicle Inspection Certificate (desirable but not essential)
Demonstrated sound mechanical knowledge and ability to troubleshoot/fault find
Possession of open class driving licence with HR & HC being advantageous
White Construction Card
Pass a Functional Capacity Evaluation before an offer of employment will be made.
Vaccines for this position currently include: Hepatitis A, Hepatitis B, Q fever and Tetanus.

Salary range from $63115.64 to $77,979.97.
