About the role
UGL's locomotive maintenance facility based in Nebo, QLD is currently seeking a 1st Year Mechanical and apprentice to join our team.
This position will be Monday to Friday 8hr day OR Mon - Thus 10hr day shift roster. Camp accommodation/meals are provided (must be 18 years old). If you do not live local to the site, FIFO to and from Nebo will be at your own cost.
Reporting to the Service Delivery Manager these roles will see you working with in the fleet maintenance team alongside our trade qualified staff working on fault finding and troubleshooting activities for our rollingstock assets throughout the rail network.
About You
Throughout your apprenticeship and in line with the apprenticeship program you will competently complete the following minimum accountabilities in line with trade standards:
- Understand mechanical and architectural drawings and diagrams to determine job specifications and requirement.
- Plan and measure the layout of mechanical systems.
- Test, find and repair electrical problems.
- Install and fix electrical and electronic control systems, cables, outlets and equipment.
- Assemble electrical and electronic appliances.
- Connect electrical equipment to power supplies, communications and power systems.
- Participate in electrical work and competency development activities
- Participate with analysing of work orders to determine information such as material to be used, type of operations and sequence of operations required to complete the job task
- Actively listen and effectively communicate with the Operations Team to ensure all work tasks are completed smoothly
- Ensure all tools and machinery are effectively maintained and secure in accordance with required standards
- Always follow and apply all safe working procedures and practices including the completion of all required safety documentation
- Commitment to attending and completing all requirements of formal qualification
- Undertake any additional adhoc instructions as provided by supervising Tradesperson or Delivery Manager
