The opportunity:

Visy Glass is Australia and New Zealand's largest manufacturer of recycled glass bottles and jars consisting of 5 plants across Australia and New Zealand.

We have an exciting apprenticeship opening for a confident and enthusiastic person wanting to gain a Certificate III in Engineering (Mechanical Trade), and work at our dynamic, fast paced manufacturing plant based in South Brisbane, with the view to transfer to our new state of the art facility located in Yatala at the end of 2025.

This is a day shift position, and during your apprenticeship you will receive on the job training, guidance, and mentoring from maintenance leaders and experienced mechanics, theory support, and the flexibility to choose block training, day release, or a mix of all these options.  In addition, you will receive a base wage, allowances, potential overtime, all tools and equipment, uniforms, and gain all the required skills and experience to become a trade qualified fitter and turner.

Fixed term contract, 35 hours per week, 9-day fortnight.

Key responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:

• Following apprenticeship training agreements proactively with a strong emphasis on learning
• Becoming actively involved within the inspection and packaging maintenance department.
• Assist qualified mechanical trades to learn and perform a wide range of fitting tasks such as assemble, repair, and maintain various components for plant machinery and equipment.
• Strive to acquire the skills necessary to work autonomously.
• Performing other duties and projects as assigned

What you will bring to the team:

• Completion or nearing completion of your high school education and commitment to complete your apprenticeship.
• Attention to detail, strong problem solving and communication skills.
