The Role
HDR is looking for a junior Commissioning Engineer to join our Building Engineering Services (BES) team. This position will be based out of Sydney Office, working on projects across a range of markets, primarily the Mission Critical sector. This role will give you the opportunity to learn and grow, working as part of a supportive Commissioning Team including Electrical and Mechanical Leads, as well as Project and Program Managers who will support your professional growth in the sector.
On a day-to-day basis, Mechanical Commissioning Engineer will be responsible for:
- Ensuring systems are designed, installed, functionally tested and capable of being operated and maintained according to the owner’s operational needs.
- Maintaining and improving our relationship with the clients, managing the scope and look for opportunities to provide additional services that would benefit the client
- Identifying, monitoring and supporting attainment of net fee booked plans by driving consistent communication across the organization, in coordination with the commissioning practice leaders
- Serving as a key client manager for selected clients
- Liaising with other regional commissioning leadership in respect of national and international account management, marketing and communications, internal communications and technical development
- Working closely with our safety team in developing guidance and safe work systems that relate to our commissioning effort, including development and refinement of company-wide safety protocols and management KPIs
- Performing other duties as needed.
Qualifications
Qualifications & Skills
- Tertiary qualifications in a mechanical discipline (university or TAFE) - highly advantageous
- 2-5 years' experience in a similar role
- Green Star AP, LEED AP, CSA or LEED Associate – highly advantageous
- Demonstrated experience in commissioning or facility engineering, preferably working in Data Centre / Health sectors.
- Experience with equipment inspections
- Experience with design, installation and operation of building systems (including, but not limited to, HVAC, electrical, mechanical, controls)
- Experience with Factory Witness Test / Factory Acceptance Tests
