Steelmaking coal is an essential ingredient in blast-furnace steel manufacture, producing steel used for critical building and infrastructure around the world.  In Australia, we operate five steelmaking coal mines in Queensland’s Bowen Basin, and have additional joint venture interests in steelmaking coal and manganese, as well as copper exploration projects underway in North West Queensland and Western Australia.

Job Description

Our Moranbah North Mine is seeking an experienced Longwall Mechanical Coordinator to support the Longwall Operations team to plan and executive activities which are associated with the annual operating plan. You will be responsible for maintaining and improving the Longwall mining systems and processes from a Mechanical standpoint.

The role will involve the following:

• Coordinate all mechanical aspects associated with the implementation of longwall relocation events and longwall production
• Collaborate with mechanical and operations Longwall Coordinators to plan all mechanical maintenance activities
• Review and sign off on Longwall mechanical plans and subsequently implementing and auditing them
• Accountable for Longwall equipment relocation
• Collaborate with Longwall Operational and Mechanical Coordinators and other support functions
• Consistently deliver performance targets, analysing and seeking continuous improvement for Safety, Costs and Resource Recovery

Qualifications

• Relevant Trade Qualification or a Diploma or Degree in Engineering
• Previous experience in a similar position within an underground mining operation
• Demonstrated experience leading a team to safely deliver work and foster a safety-first attitude and culture
• Demonstrated commitment to safety with previous experience in identifying risks and implementing safe working practices
• Demonstrated drive to deliver against performance targets and work with a range of stakeholders
• In-depth knowledge of QLD Coal Mining Health and Safety Act 1999 and Regulations 2017
• Demonstrated experience in developing continuous improvement ideas
