THE POSITION

We are looking for an energetic, creative and hands-on Mechanical Design Engineer to join our growing Engineering team.

The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and testing mechanical systems and components and help us innovate with new designs and improve existing designs to fit our client needs.

You will be working together with a team of highly motivated engineers in an agile environment where we collaborate to solve complexed engineering initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design and develop mechanical systems and components, including 3D modeling, prototyping, and testing.
• Contributing to the design iteration of our modular waste processing systems
• Specifying and executing testing and analysis to ensure that our equipment performs at a high standard and according to customer requirements and product specification
• Collaborate with larger engineering team, product team and manufacturing team to ensure products are designed and built to specification
• Develop and maintain technical documentation, including drawings, specifications, and test reports.
• Participate in design reviews and provide feedback to improve designs and processes.
• Travel when needed for execution of testing and verification of design
• Support selection and procurement of equipment

Key Skills and Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• 5+ years of experience in Mechanical Design and development.
• Proficiency in 3D modeling software - preferably with Onshape but experience with Solidworks, Inventor and similar are all transferable
• Experience in project management and product development processes
• Good understanding of DFM principles (advantageous)
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
• Ability and availability to travel to various sites for testing and verification of designs
• Familiarity with digital collaboration and communication tools such as Confluence/Notion/Slack/G suite will be beneficial
• A flexible and adaptable nature is required to survive in a fast moving and ever evolving start-up environment
• A strong ability to work autonomously and deliver on deadlines

Additional skills (not required but advantageous):

• Experience with machine component design
• Experience with HVAC design
• Experience with fluid dynamics
