Optiscan Imaging Ltd (ASX:OIL) is a global leader in the development of microscopic imaging and related technologies for surgery and medical research. Based in Melbourne, Optiscan was established in 1994 and listed on the ASX in 1997. We have developed and patented endomicroscopic technology which allows real-time, 3D, ‘in vivo’ imaging of human tissue at the cellular level enabling instant digital biopsies for cancer screening, diagnosis and treatment.

Key Responsibilities:
As the Mechanical Engineer, you will be responsible for leading the activities of a cross functional team, with the below deliverables:
- Be responsible for the full design cycle of intricate mechanical components of our solutions, which includes interfaces for electrical, electronics and optical subsystems.
- Conduct basic R&D by building, modifying, and testing prototype opto-electro-mechanical parts.
- Liaise with subcontractors and suppliers to source parts and services.
- Inspect, assemble, and test components and systems.
- Assist in managing projects.
- Support the in-house manufacturing team
- Maintain documentation of design and assembly processes.
Your Profile:
- Hold a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- Be registered as a professional engineer in the area of Mechanical Engineering in Victoria, or equivalent.
- Have 5+ years of experience in mechanical design, with at least 4 years post-graduation.
- Be skilled in and enjoy hands-on work.
- Expertise in 2D and 3D CAD modelling software, preferably using SolidWorks.
- Experience in FEA/FEM and simulations
- Experience in managing projects.
- Knowledge of CAD, CAM, and precision fabrication methods.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Experience with optics, electro-mechanical systems, mechatronics, will be advantageous.
- Prior experience in medical device development, or experience in working in an ISO13485, ISO9001 or similar regulated industry is desirable.
