Our client is a groundbreaking medical device startup dedicated to developing life-changing assistive technologies. They are focused on creating a market-leading solution that restores the ability of individuals who have lost their natural voice to communicate effectively and confidently. We are looking for a New Product Development (NPD) Mechanical Engineer with great CAD skills and experience bringing products from concept to market to join them and at this pivotal point of growth.

As the NPD Mechanical Engineer, you'll drive the design and development of innovative medical communication technologies that are subject to research and development, trials, prototyping, and manufacturing or commercial sales.
The team will rely on you to:
- Lead the mechanical design and development of innovative assistive medical devices from concept to commercialisation. This encompasses project planning, component selection, CAD modelling, and adherence to regulatory standards.
- Create and present proof-of-concept designs, emphasising safety, functionality, and compliance with regulations.
- Analyse mechanical design requirements across various stages, producing comprehensive design documents, specifications, and plans.
- Collaborate with industry partners in connection with the Manufacturing Team to agree and set up requirements for manufacturing approaches, methods, and machinery within the medical device sector.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, incorporating user feedback and driving continuous improvement of medical device products.
- Stay current on advancements in medical device design, manufacturing, and Mechanical Engineering technologies, sharing knowledge with the team.
- Drive timely project execution in line with budget constraints, communicating effectively with stakeholders throughout the development process.
- Supervise and mentor technicians and colleagues, supporting design transfer and manufacturing processes.
- Document design processes thoroughly, ensuring adherence to medical device regulations (FDA, ISO 13485, etc.).
Ideally you have:
- Minimum Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering or closely related field.
- Experience with the design, development, and manufacturing of at least one new electromechanical product, preferably within healthcare or medical devices, that was released and sold in the market.
- Strong proficiency in CAD design (Solidworks) and CAD product design, CAD prototyping (CNC, 3D printing)
- Experience with design for manufacturing (DFM) principles.
- Knowledge of materials selection, stress analysis, FEA (beneficial)
- Project documentation platforms (Confluence/Jira)
