Form of workOur Client, NEPEAN Conveyors (a division of NEPEAN™) provides fully engineered turnkey conveying and materials handling solutions, from concept to commissioning for some of the world's largest mining companies. Established in 1985, it manufactures and markets conveyor components including pulleys, idlers, rapid advance-rapid retreat components and drive-heads, and provides on-site installation, maintenance, and relocation of conveyor installations.
Our Opportunity
To support our ongoing growth, NEPEAN Conveyors are currently seeking experienced Mechanical Fitters to join the team. The position is a full-time permanent opportunity, located in Mackay QLD.
Your duties will include but are not limited to:
- Assembling and disassembling of all underground mining materials, gearboxes, driveline equipment, winching equipment, hydraulic power packs and hydraulic driven equipment.
- Overhaul of gearbox and mechanical drives.
- Operating a forklift, overhead crane driving, handling material and equipment.
- Delivering maintenance reports on fixtures of mobile plant Including inspection.
- Identifying improvements and completing relevant documentation.
- Welding and minor fabrication, minor painting, steam cleaning and ancillary duties.
- To help train apprentices by demonstrating correct work procedures
- Be responsible for the housekeeping and cleanliness of your designated workplace and workshop in general to 5S Standard.
Skills and attributes
- Trade qualified Mechanical Fitter.
- Experienced with bearing/lock element fitment and pulley stripping.
- Experienced in Conveyors systems.
- A proven track record of achievement in a similar role
- Exceptional attention to detail skills
- A current forklift license and the overhead gantry is desirable but not essential.
This opportunity is a unique in-house role that allows for internal growth.
Salary range is $35.50 - $40.47 per hour commensurate with experience.
