The Role
Bega's Koroit site manufactures a range of dairy products including skimmed and full cream milk powders, buttermilk powders, milk protein concentrate, lactoferrin powder, retail milk powders, anhydrous milk fat, liquid cream and butter. The site produces a staggering 35 tonnes of lactoferrin extract annually. Lactoferrin is a naturally occurring iron building protein found in milk, and it is regarded for its anti-microbial and anti-inflammatory properties.
We are looking for a new Mechanical Maintenance Supervisor to lead a team of fitters to perform maintenance or service tasks to ensure the site runs smoothly and meets production targets. Being an experienced person, you may have to jump in and help with more complex issues. This role can also include planning shutdowns to ensure everything runs smoothly.
While this role is not allocated to a set shift rotation, Maintenance meetings start at 7am so you must be okay with early starts.
Responsibilities
- Responsibility for the control and supervision of the sites maintenance team and apprentices.
- Ensure the timely correction of defects and the utilisation of the site preventative maintenance program.
- Day-to-day co-ordination of maintenance activities for the site, including overseeing contractor compliance
- Optimal utilisation of resources for all maintenance activities, whilst pursuing a structured program of continuous improvement
- Effective communication with all key contacts to help achieve day-to-day maintenance goals
About you
- Experience in a maintenance role in a similar industry (FMCG/Food Manufacturing etc).
- Previous experience leading and managing a team
- High level of computer literacy
- Strong communication skills
- Committed to safety and the Bega life saving rules
