An exciting opportunity exists for the permanent full-time position of Mechanical Project Engineer at our Ulverstone food manufacturing facility. Simplot Ulverstone has a proud history in the local community and processes around 300,000 tonnes of potatoes from 165 Tasmanian growers each year whilst employing over 450 people. Manufactured products include fries (coated & uncoated cuts), sweet potato fries, potato gems, and hash browns in addition to other value added products. Our customers include the leading restaurant chains, major and independent supermarkets in addition to the food service industry.
Simplot has heavily invested in the future of our Ulverstone operations with major line & infrastructure upgrades, and with a further $7 million of integral projects in the pipeline, this is an exciting time to join the home of Australia's favourite foods.
Reporting to the Engineering Manager, this Mon-Fri role will play a key part in our site improvement activities.
What You Will Do
Control and deliver complex capital engineering projects from concept to completion to facilitate improvements to the site's operations. Projects are to be managed in line with best practice project management principles and relevant standards, procedures, regulations and budgetary requirements including;
- Capital projects.
- Budget forecasting.
- Feasibility and scoping.
- Design, tender and contract.
- Installation / construction.
- Commissioning and handover.
- Contractor management.
- Legal and statutory.
- Engineering standards, documentation and communications.
- Continuous improvement activities.
- Modified process lines commissioned on time with full production rates achieved in accordance with the project schedule
- Successful implementation of projects that deliver tangible financial returns to Simplot Global Food and meet stated objectives and KPI targets
- Trouble free start-up of new plant and equipment
- Demonstrated experience within a Project Engineering role managing multiple multidisciplinary projects and groups of contractors
- Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering
- Experience within an FMCG / food manufacturing environment would be advantageous
- Sound knowledge of LEAN manufacturing principles and the ability to effectively build rapport, communicate with and work collaboratively with employees at all levels of the business - management, staff and shop floor personnel.
- You are results driven with the ability to manage and influence multiple stakeholders, and enjoy the challenge of operating within a continuous improvement program.
