Job Description Summary Service Stream Services (formerly Lendlease) is seeking the Mechanical Supervisor/Work Group Leader for ongoing work in the Latrobe Valley Victoria within the Maintenance team for the AGL Loy Yang power station.

Service Stream’s Energy division are currently seeking a Mechanical Supervisor/Work Group Leader to join our growing company.

Reporting Line: Service Delivery Manager
Key Responsibilities
The Mechanical Supervisor/Work Group Leader plays a key role in overseeing and coordinating mechanical activities within our organisation. This position requires a seasoned professional with a strong mechanical background, leadership skills, and the ability to manage and guide a team of mechanical personnel. The Mechanical Supervisor/Work Group Leader will contribute to the successful execution of projects, ensuring efficiency, safety, and adherence to quality standards.
Supervision and Leadership:
Lead, guide, and motivate a team of mechanical technicians, ensuring optimal performance and collaboration.
Foster a positive work environment that encourages teamwork, accountability, and a commitment to quality.
Project Coordination:
Oversee and coordinate mechanical projects, collaborating with project managers, engineers, and other departments.
Ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and in adherence to specifications.
Technical Expertise:
Provide technical guidance and support to the mechanical team, assisting with complex problem-solving and decision-making.
Stay updated on industry best practices, technological advancements, and regulatory requirements.
Quality Control:
Implement and enforce quality control processes to guarantee the highest standards of mechanical work.
Conduct regular inspections to identify and address any issues affecting project quality.
Safety Compliance:
Prioritise and enforce safety protocols, ensuring a secure working environment for all team members.
Conduct safety training sessions and promote a safety-first culture among the mechanical team.
Resource Management:
Manage mechanical resources, including personnel, equipment, and materials, to optimise efficiency.
Collaborate with procurement to ensure timely availability of mechanical supplies.
Training and Development:
Identify training needs within the mechanical team and facilitate skill development programs.
Mentor and coach team members to enhance their technical skills and overall performance.
About You
To excel in the role of Mechanical Supervisor/Work Group Leader, you're a skilled tradesman with a proven track record in hands-on mechanical roles. We seek an individual with demonstrated expertise and several years of experience in the field, progressing into a supervisory position. The ideal candidate should embody the following qualities:
- Proven experience as a Mechanical Supervisor or similar role.
- Strong mechanical background with expertise in industrial machinery, systems, and equipment.
- Leadership skills with the ability to effectively manage and inspire a team.
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Familiarity with safety regulations and mechanical quality standards.
- Valid Australian Driver's Licence
- Proof of right to work in Australia
- Construction White Card
- Formal qualifications relevant to your trade
- Commitment to health, safety, environment, and industry best practices
- Effective communication skills
- Pre employment Medical (If hired)
- Lab Drug & Alcohol Testing (If hired)
- Current Nationally Recognised Confined Space Certificate (within 3 years)
- Current Nationally Recognised Working at Heights Certificate (within 3 years)
- High-risk Forklift Ticket
- High-risk Elevated Work Platform Ticket
- High-risk Crane Tickets
- Valid Australian Truck Licence
- Several years of hands-on experience in mechanical roles, progressing into a supervisory position.
- The role may involve working in various environments, including manufacturing plants, construction sites, and workshops.
- Occasional extended hours and weekend work may be required to meet project deadlines.
