Media, Photography and Design Teacher

• Part-time, fixed-term role for Semester 2, 2024

We are seeking a creative and dedicated all round teacher to take on an exciting opportunity as a Media, Photography and Design Teacher in our Senior School. Working across diverse year groups, you will have the capacity to engage and inspire our students to achieve their best. The position will be 0.8 FTE for Term 3, dropping to 0.4 FTE in Term 4. There will be opportunities to supplement the 0.4 FTE in Term 4 with relief teaching.

This position will responsible for developing students’ skills to create and understand media, ranging from traditional forms such as film, photography, newspapers, magazines, graphic novels, radio and television to social media, and new and emerging multimedia technologies.

The Wesley College Media team utilizes up to date technologies with purpose-built studio facilities that allow students to become conversant with the demands of media in our current society. These facilities include a dedicated studio with greenscreen and live multi-cam broadcasting from both the main auditorium and on location that enables students to get real life experiences in producing live broadcast and recording.  Operating with Blackmagic’s ‘DaVinci Resolve’ on the Apple Mac Lab in the classroom, a dedicated audio recording booth and a range of DSLR cameras and ancillary equipment, support the students to produce works that are consistently ranked amongst the highest in the WACE courses.

The successful candidate will:

• be willing to demonstrate innovative practice within a vibrant collaborative team;
• be professional, positive, and a flexible collaborator;
• be a qualified teacher with relevant tertiary qualifications in Media or similar,
• TRB clearance, and be able to teach in WA;
• have an understanding of Western Australian Curriculum requirements;
• preferably conversant across multiple art disciplines with ability to scaffold Design Thinking principles and processes;
• understand and support the pastoral needs of students;
• have sound skills utilising and facilitating the use of media technologies; and
• have excellent communication and interpersonal skills in interactions with colleagues, parents and students.
