We are excited to offer to an experienced and dedicated individual the opportunity for a fixed term temporary full time Medical Laboratory Scientist role in the Chemistry unit. This role will apply competent scientific judgement in the analysis of patient specimens leading to the verification and validation of test results and the provision of advice to the clinical unit where appropriate. To be successful you will have excellent communication, the ability to participate in quality and service improvement activities and work diligently and effectively as a team member to provide the best in service delivery to all stakeholders of the hospital.
Key competencies (role specific criteria)
You will be assessed on your ability to demonstrate the following:
- Demonstrated knowledge, expertise and skill in the delivery of competent scientific judgement within the Chemical Pathology department.
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience in the delivery and support of Point of Care testing services.
- Demonstrated interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively as a member of a multi-disciplinary team with the ability to triage workloads and communicate this effectively with team members.
- Demonstrated ability to follow standard operating procedures and apply established principles to the Chemical Pathology service with provision of results and clinical advice in a client focused manner.
- Demonstrated ability (or ability to rapidly acquire the skill) to identify, develop and implement quality and service improvement activities in accordance with NATA/ISO accreditation / certification.
Qualifications, registrations and other requirements
- The successful applicant must hold a tertiary degree (or equivalent) formal qualification(s) in science.
- In some circumstances and following consultation, Queensland Health staff may be required to participate in 24 hour shift, on-call or weekend roster arrangements.
- Appointment to this position requires proof of qualification and registration or membership with the appropriate registration authority or association. Certified copies of the required information must be provided to the appropriate supervisor/ manager, prior to the commencement of clinical duties.
