Job description


As one of the nation’s busiest offices, supporting young people and their families on the Gold Coast and South-East Queensland, headspace Southport provides a broad range of programs and services.

The headspace Early Psychosis (hEP) program located in Southport, operated by Lives Lived Well a not for profit organisation, is an early intervention service aiming to provide youth-friendly, accessible, and effective care, treatment and support to young people aged 12 to 25 who are at risk of developing, or are experiencing, their first episode of psychosis.


We currently have a full time 6-month vacancy with a possibility of extension for a Clinician in our Continuing Care Team (CCT) based in Southport.


About the role


The CCT program provides long term care, case management support to young people and their families.  Our committed and compassionate multi-disciplinary team have a rich history of working with young people, their families, and carers to help young people achieve their recovery goals.

As a Clinician in the CCT program, you will support our young people by implementing engaging outreach initiatives, including but not limited to creating meaningful engagement opportunities for young people, working within a community outreach model, and developing treatment plans to coordinate care for young people and their families within the service. 

The remuneration for these positions will be commensurate with the successful applicant's qualifications, skills and experience and will range between gross $41.52 to $47.50 per hour plus superannuation and salary packaging benefits.


About you


You are an engaging individual with the ability to connect with clients who are navigating Mental Health challenges and difficult life experiences. You can work both autonomously and collaboratively within a team and utilise the appropriate evidence-based techniques to support your clients.


Additionally, you will also possess the following skills and experience:

Essential: 

  1. Bachelor degree in a relevant discipline such as Social Work, Psychology, Occupational Therapy, Counselling or Mental Health Nursing, and eligibility for membership with the relevant professional body such as AHPRA or the Australian Association of Social Workers.
  2. Proven ability with case formulation and treatment planning including delivering evidenced based intervention. 
  3. A high level of interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal) and problem-solving skills.
  4. Strong time management skills and ability to balance competing demands while maintaining your own wellbeing.
  5. Be passionate about early intervention for young people and their families.
  6. Have the ability to actively engage and work collaboratively with young people and their families/significant others to achieve positive recovery outcomes.

Desirable: 

  1. Prior demonstrated experience in youth Mental Health and / or case management is highly desirable.
