They are dedicated to promoting human rights and providing key services in the areas of Mental Health support, positive behaviour support, counselling, training, consultancy, and therapy. As a small but growing company, they are currently seeking a Mental Health Clinician (Social Worker) to join their dynamic team in Cairns who are dedicated to making a real difference in the field of Mental Health and disability. The Opportunity
Your key responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Work closely with individuals and families to identify their needs through assessment, counseling, and individual planning. Develop meaningful goals and practical strategies to meet these goals in home and community settings;
- Engage in a holistic, integrated approach with allied health professionals, fostering collaborative relationships with government and non-government service providers for ongoing support;
- Communicate professionally with staff, participants, advocates, families, specialists, government agencies, and other relevant entities. Take responsibility for timely provision of advice and assistance, building long-term effective working relationships;
- Develop and implement individually designed supports and interventions, including family and general counseling, case coordination, and integrated clinical support;
- Ensure adherence to Disability Services Standards, Child Safety, NDIS, and other legislative requirements. Actively report potential breaches to the appropriate channels;
- Stay updated on industry knowledge, actively participating in learning and development opportunities. Supervise and train assistants, students, and less experienced staff when assigned.
- Bachelor / Master of Social Work and / or Psychology registration equivalent with APHRA registration;
- Working knowledge of human rights-based approaches in the disability sector;
- Experience working with individuals, families, and children with disabilities;
- Understanding of trauma-informed practice principles and child protection/mandatory reporting legislation;
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills;
- Current driver’s license, Working with Children Check, Disability Worker Screening, and Police Check clearance;
- Recognised qualification in Psychology or Social Work;
- Eligibility for membership of relevant Australian professional associations (e.g., AASW);
- Current registration to practice in QLD with APHRA.
