Summary:
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Mental Health Disability Support Worker to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing guidance, support, and advice to individuals - including ADLS. The Mental Health Disability Support Worker will work closely with clients to help them achieve their personal and professional goals. We are seeking a Mental Health Disability Support worker with a minimum of 2 years-experience (full-time equivalent). You will also have experience in high personal care and we are especially interested in hearing from individuals who have a keen interest in the nursing space and may suit those who are studying nursing as our client is a complex-needs. Our client is requesting female only.
Responsibilities:
- Provide guidance and support to individuals with Mental Health and Disabilities.
- Managing Challenging Behaviours.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients to ensure their success
- Monitor and evaluate the progress of clients and entering clear and concise shift notes.
- Collaborate with other professionals to provide comprehensive support to the client.
- The Mental HealthSupport Worker contributes to the delivery of a comprehensive and integrated range of evidenced based, recovery-oriented services appropriate to the needs of the consumer and the local community.
- Mental HealthSupport Workers provides a range of non-clinical, integrated psychosocial support services to Mental Health consumers across the community.
- The Mental HealthSupport Worker works to assist consumers and service providers to understand the concept of recovery and rehabilitation and serve as a recovery and wellness/information role.
- Tasks and duties performed will be of a practical nature, through the provision of direct day to day tasks supporting the consumer’s accomplishment of stated goals within the consumer care plan.
- Assist clients with daily living activities such as bathing, dressing, and grooming.
- Provide emotional support and companionship to clients.
- Help clients with mobility and transportation needs.
- Administer medication and monitor health conditions.
- Assist with meal preparation and household tasks.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals and family members to ensure the best possible care for clients.
- Collaborate with office staff and other internal stakeholders.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation.
Essential:
- NDIS Screening Check or willing to obtain
- CPR and 1st Aid Certificate or willing to obtain
- Medication Administration (we can assist with this)
- Manual Handling
- Reliable car, valid driver's license, insurance
- WWCC
Qualifications:
- Certification in Disability Support or related field preferred
- Experience working with individuals with disabilities in the Mental Health space - plus 2 years
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field - not essential
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- A Strong command of English
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Knowledge of industry trends and best practices
- Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with clients
- Strong organisational and time management skills
