About the role

The Senior Social Worker at Next Step’s East Perth outpatients is responsible for managing and providing AOD treatment and support to clients which includes managing a client caseload, clinical assessments, triage/duty and treatment review. The successful applicant will also provide advocacy and liaison with other support organisations to assist the patient with the recovery journey. The Senior Social Worker also offers general Social Worker advice and support to Next Step clinicians in the areas of child protection, housing and community support services.

As a key member of the multidisciplinary team you will work collaboratively alongside doctors, nurses, psychologists and counsellors to facilitate and promote client safety, minimise risk and improve quality of care.

You will work within the community outpatient clinic between the hours of 8:30 AM to 4:30PM Monday to Friday.

About us

Next Step is the leading government drug and alcohol treatment service in Western Australia providing a range of clinical services. The treatment services provided by Next Step include:

  • Outpatient services at East Perth and via integrated Community Alcohol and Drug Services at six metropolitan locations
  • The Inpatient Withdrawal Unit at East Perth
  • An onsite pharmacy service based at East Perth
  • Outpatient and inpatient youth services via the Integrated Drug and Alcohol Youth Service.
  • Community programs including the Community Pharmacotherapy Program and the Clinical Advisory Service.

Next Step strives to be a culturally secure and inclusive service that is respectful of the diverse needs of each individual.

Next Step Services will be transitioned into the Royal Perth Bentley Group (RPBG) Hospital Logistics and Acute Access Division (HoLAA) within the East Metropolitan Health Service.

About you

We are seeking an experienced Senior Social Worker to join this highly specialised service that embraces a multidisciplinary approach to its care.

You will be:

  • Passionate about working in drug and alcohol treatment services
  • Able to understand and act within key boundaries and maintain a professional relationship with clients
  • Flexible, adaptable and capable of learning within challenging environments
  • Experienced in working with clients with challenging and complex presentations
  • Enthusiastic for working in a multidisciplinary environment
