Salary per week:

Registered Nurse: $1,342.50 - $1,884.90

Allied Health Professional Level 1/2: $1,359.64 - $1,939.70

Psychologist: $1,432.43 - $2,096.59

What you'll be doing

Each person’s unique journey of recovery will be supported by Mental Health drug and alcohol services in a way that fosters hope, purpose and resilience.

MHDA Statement of Intention

The intention of the NSLHD MHDA is to provide recovery-oriented, trauma informed services that are guided by evidence based practices and collaboration.

The 1800 Mental Health Line (MHL) is a 24/7 telephone triage and referral service for people who may require referral to public community Mental Health services. The 1800 MHL also provides information on a range of services to assist callers with other support needs identified at triage.

The Mental Health Line clinicians will be required to conduct Mental Health and risk assessment over the phone and refer individuals to appropriate services within Northern Sydney Local Health District or to another appropriate service provider.

Clinicians will be required to document calls appropriately and maintain a high standard of customer service, including a timely response to incoming calls. The role will be both challenging and rewarding. As a frontline Mental Health clinician, you may have contact with a wide range of callers with various Mental Health concerns, including people who may be in a highly distressed state, those needing longer-term Mental Health support, or others seeking general advice and assistance to help manage their Mental Health needs.

Candidates will need to meet the following criteria:

  1. Consistently demonstrates behaviours that reinforce the CORE Values of our organisation; Collaboration, Openness, Respect and Empowerment. Demonstrates these behaviours with all stakeholders; colleagues, direct reports, as well as our patients and consumers, and those that care for them.
  2. Tertiary qualifications as per clinical discipline (Nursing, Social Work, Occupational Therapy, Psychology) with full AHPRA registration or eligible for full membership with AASW.
  3. Demonstrated experience working within Mental Health settings, and skills conducting Mental Health triages and assessments across the age-span.
  4. Advanced written and oral communication skills, including the ability to effectively engage consumers over the telephone. Ability to liaise with internal and external stakeholders.
  5. Ability to remain calm in stressful situations and challenging circumstances and
  6. Ability to work both independently and as part of a team within a critical environment.
  7. Ability to understand, interpret, and analyse complex issues with proven conceptual thinking skills for effective problem solving and decision making.
  8. Advanced computer literacy with demonstrated experience in the use of Windows-based applications and touch typing skills
