This is a special opportunity for a casual Mental Health Support Worker to join Graman Support. Leaving old systems behind, Graman Support is evolving with the changing landscape of Mental Health in the NDIS space. With our main office being located in Scoresby, we have participants located all over Melbourne and growing.
About the role
The Mental Health Support Worker instils confidence and hope, provides encouragement, and promotes health to people with a range of Mental Health diagnoses in varying stages of recovery.
- Support participants to develop trusting and professional relationships
- Work collaboratively with participants to complete safety and wellness planning
- Proactively engage with participants to develop skills and independence to meet daily living needs
- In-line with choice and control support people to participate in all lifestyle activities to improve their social participation in the community
- Provide short-term focused interventions, psychoeducation and mentoring to participants
- Support and assist participants to achieve their goals and needs in relation to their NDIS plan
- Deliver person-centred services to meet the needs of participants
- Provide weekday and/or weekend support as required by participants

What you will bring to the role
- Relevant tertiary qualification (minimum Certificate IV) in Mental Health or Alcohol and Other Drugs
- Previous experience working with people with Mental Health issues and complex needs
- An understanding of the nature of psychosocial disability, the impact on an individual and their family or carer’s
- Be a person who engages in reflective practice with a passion for Mental Health and display a high ethical code of conduct
- An ability to communicate with the team as well as strong skills working autonomously
- An understanding of the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS)
- Have availability to work for a minimum 5 days per week (including weekends)
Mandatory requirements
- Current National Police Check (less than 12 months old)
- Current Working with Children Check
- Current valid First Aid Certificate
- Have a full Victorian Driver’s License, and full comprehensive roadworthy vehicle insurance for your car
- Cert IV in Mental Health or equivalent
