Billabong Clubhouse is funded through the NSW Government and has significant local community support who contribute through generous donations and fund-raising events. We are seeking a suitable new team member to undertake the role of a
Mental Health Support Worker. In the role you will be required to work in a
supporting role with people who are living with mental illness. You will also work with our members to develop and enhance their skills to be as independent as possible, to encourage informed, safe and healthy choices and to promote, support and encourage a person directing their own decisions.
You will be part of a small, dynamic team that encourages a proactive approach, readiness to tackle challenges, and the drive to take ownership of your tasks.
Skills and experience- Certificate IV in Mental Health or other relevant qualification and/or relevant experience or willingness to obtain.
- Ability to work in and contribute to a small and dynamic team.
- Demonstrated experience in and commitment to working with people in the Mental Health or community service-based areas.
- Demonstrated excellent verbal, written communication and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated understanding of conflict resolution and negotiation skills
- Demonstrated ability to work autonomously with excellent organisational and prioritisation skills.
- Critical thinking and problem-solving ability.
- Excellent computer skills and the ability to operate programs including MSWord, Excel and Outlook would be highly regarded.
- A sound working knowledge of and commitment to working with people from a wide range of ethnic and social backgrounds.
- Current drivers' license.
