A little bit about the role…
The Merchandise Planner role is a full-time position based in our Melbourne Support Office, with flexible working arrangements. The role is to responsible for maximising sales and gross profit through the management of inventory across Kathmandu businesses.
Day to day responsibilities include;
- Develop and deliver strategy for Kathmandu merchandise across all divisions
- Reviewing and challenging the assortments in store and giving guidance on optimum inventory levels for each of our stores including online.
- Providing clear and regular measures to inventory budgets and facilitating actions
- Proactively working with the Buyer and Retail teams to actively review historic sales and future trends to identify potential for sales maximisation.
- Range planning including preparing formats, summarising past season performance, to assess against budget and prior year, suggesting new season style and dollar investments by category
- Optimise and manage inventory levels directly in ANZ
- Review and approve inventory purchase commitments
- Working with Product Managers and Buyers to improve margins in purchasing decisions
- Oversee the preparation of monthly regional and global merch plans, including inventory levels, purchases, sales, gross margin and key inventory metrics (e.g. FWOC and stock turn)
- Communicate inventory projections for outlets to the wider business for action
- Demonstrated experience within a merchandise planning role within a retail environment
- Business related tertiary qualification
- Demonstrated knowledge for planning and analysis
- Strong verbal and written communication and stakeholder management skills, including the ability to present insights and influence stakeholders at all levels of the company
- Strong analytical ability, innovative with a common sense approach to problem solving
- High level of attention to detail
- Ability to multi-task and have good time management skills.
- A high standard of integrity and confidentiality
- Proactive in being able to initiate process establishment and change
- Proficient in Excel and system skills
