Basic Skills Required:
• Be proficient in MIG and TIG welding
• Able to read and interpret engineering drawings
• use safe work practices when using electrical workshop equipment and hand-held tools
• Produce work of high quality
• Work in a safe manner
Chassis Preparation:
• modifying wheel base length on chassis to suit body type
• cutting , welding , grinding and drilling of main chassis rails
• fabricating Chassis Cross Members and centre Hanger for Drive Shafts
• extend/shorten chassis air lines and wiring
Chassis Preparation Prior to Mounting Body:
• relocation and fitting of chassis components to suit body type i.e. fuel tanks, battery box ,air, fuel and brake lines
• modifying rear cab window opening to suit cab to body connector
Mounting of Body to Chassis:
• follow safe lift/mounting procedure in accordance to prepared SWMS/WRAP
• U bolt mounting of module to chassis
• connection of battery and cables
Fitting out of Module:
• cut, prepare and fit wooden floor boards
• fit electrical components to module i.e. side markers , lights , beacon , reverse camera ,radios and speakers
Sheeting of Bus Frame:
• various sheeting materials are measured, cut, folded and prepared for cladding of bus frame
• frame surfaces are prepared and a combination of double sided tape and adhesive/sealer is applied, prior to the fixing of panels
• panels are fixed onto frame using tape, adhesive/sealer and/or rivets
• additional components are also fitted in the process including pre-wiring, A/C components, rear light assemblies etc
• quality checks are performed throughout the sheeting process
• recording of task hours are performed
Fit additional Components Including:
• bull bar, tow bar , air operated steps /doors , water tanks, toilet , cabinets ,TV monitors, electrical appliances etc.
• doors, door locks and handles
• seats and covers
• air conditioning fibreglass components to bus interior
• decal, side mouldings and high vis tape
• spraying storage areas with decorative paint
• final cleaning and detailing of complete bus
• carrying out quality checks
• accurately recording task times
