MACHINIST FIRST CLASS (CNC PROGRAMMER, SETTER, MILL/LATHE OPERATOR)
Short Engineering Pty Ltd specialises in jobbing and production machining of metals and plastics for a wide range of industries. The successful applicant must be qualified to:
- read and interpret simple to complex blueprints/drawings accurately as well as taking a broken or worn part and duplicating from that
- programme and edit CNC controllers at the shop floor level using G & M codes
- independently programme the set-up of and operate our CNC Mills which are Hartford with Meldas 64 controllers.
- produce a Mechanical Engineering Trade certificate. Plus, 4 years experience on CNC mills/lathes machining large and very small parts.
- read and write G and M codes is essential
- select the correct tooling/inserts required and machine parts to a drawing or sample for set ups
- work with fine tolerances and high value material. Experience required
- select and correct speeds and feeds
- perform inspection using micrometres
- apply trigonometry and other math skills
- inspect own work and fill in Inspection Sheets
- apply safe working procedures
- have experience using software eg: CAD and CAM for 3 and 4 Axis programming
- have a current drivers licence. Having your own vehicle is preferred
- be able to follow all reasonable and lawful directions given to you by the employer including confidentiality
- work professionally with other employees to ensure the completion of jobs to the customer's specification.
The applicant must be proficient in speaking, comprehending, writing and reading English.
Short Engineering is located in the inner southern suburbs of Adelaide, South Australia and is close to shops and the main transport road between the northern and southern suburbs.
We have been established for over 30 years and are proud of our knowledgeable and friendly team.
Our workshop also has 3 and 4 Axis Lathe CNC machines.
