JOB DESCRIPTION
We are seeking a highly skilled Metal Machinist (First Class) to join our team. As a Metal Machinist, you will be responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining various metal machining equipment to produce precision components according to specifications. This role requires a meticulous attention to detail, proficiency in reading technical drawings, and a thorough understanding of machining processes.
RESPONSIBILITIES
· Interpret technical drawings and blueprints to determine machining requirements, suitable material, method and sequence of operations and machine settings
· Set up and operate metalworking machinery such as lathes, milling machines, grinders, and CNC machines
· Perform precision machining operations to fabricate metal parts within specified tolerances
· Monitor machine performance and make necessary adjustments to ensure quality and accuracy of finished products
· Inspect finished components to verify conformance to quality standards
· Troubleshoot and resolve machining issues as they arise
· Maintain a safe and organized work environment
· May erect machines and equipment on-site
· Setting guides, stops and other controls on machining tools, setting up prescribed cutting and shaping tools and dies in machines and presses, and setting controls for textile machines
QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS
· AQF Certificate III including at least two years of on-the-job training, or AQF Certificate IV required
· Proven experience as a Metal Machinist, preferably in a manufacturing or engineering environment
· Proficiency in operating various metalworking machinery and equipment
· Strong technical aptitude and ability to read and interpret technical drawings
· Solid understanding of machining processes and principles
· Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
· Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
· Strong commitment to workplace safety
