Based in Brisbane, the Metering Systems Operation and Improvement Engineer (MPEMSOAIE), Powermetric Metering Pty Ltd (“Powermetric”), is a key metering technical leadership role for Powermetric’s metering assets and systems, head end software, technical trouble shooting, perform simple coding, establishing technical procedures and design and or implement system improvements. It is also expected that this role will provide technical support, metering solutions and assist in coordinating the installation, commissioning, fault rectification, auditing and maintenance of metering arrangements. 

This position will also play a key role assisting in the delivery of IT initiatives in support of the Meter Provision Product Owner and ensuring the accuracy and reliability of Powermetric’s metering installations and assets in accordance with the National Electricity Market (NEM) rules, local jurisdiction, relevant Australian standards.  The role will require extensive interaction both internally within the broader Shell Energy group and externally with suppliers, installers, network companies and regulators including the Australian Energy Market Operator and to the wider business with other duties as required.

With honesty, integrity and respect, you will:

• Assist Powermetric as the AEMO accredited MPB and all regulatory requirements, audits and associated NER and State Regulatory changes;
• Assist in the develop and maintain operational process including metering provision processes, and assets management plan, procedures and systems consistent with Chapter 7 of the NER, ISO9001, ISO14001, ISO45001 and smart business practices;
• Maintain and ensuring metering installation accuracy, reliability, quality, quantity and timeliness in compliance with the meter asset management plan and the National Electricity Rules (“NER”);
• Send and manage B2B and CATS transactions in accordance with the applicable NER requirements and timeframes;
• Assist in the develop and manage contactors, manager metering equipment stock, ensuring metering installations are in compliance with local jurisdictional and other relevant metering standards;
• Provided technical support and assist in metering field works;
• Development and implement new metering products, solutions and business systems with a focus on technical and quality processes, in line with Powermetric's and customers needs and consistent with Chapter 7 of the NER, ISO9001, ISO14001, ISO45001 and best practices;
• Assessment, selection, testing and programming of metering equipment and associated peripherals;
• Assist the Product champion for the meter asset team in develop monitoring and reporting tools to assist in early identification of performance constraints and issues within the metering management system and develop solutions with the software development team;
• Resolve customer enquiries/metering enquires and ensuring a high level of customer satisfaction with a timely and accurate responses;
• Become a complex metering expert and meter asset team technical champion, influencing both internally and externally stakeholders; and
• Be an integral part of the Powermetric’s operations team, assisting with overall accomplishment of targets.

  
What you’ll bring
  
Here’s what you’ll need to thrive in this role:  

• Proven technical metering experience;
• Knowledge and understanding of metering provision management within the NEM, including Chapter 7 of the NER and MSATS;
• Ability to develop an understanding of Metering Systems and advanced analysis of the system, work order processing and SQL queries;
• Ability to write code such as Python, and create simple software tools;
• Ability to set up and analyse Modbus, RS232 and RS485 communication systems;
• Ability to work under pressure and meet tight timeframes with good attention to detail;
• Demonstrated organisational, time management and problem-solving skills; and
• Understanding of ISO9001, ISO14001, ISO45001 and AS/NZS4801 policies and process.
