Operations Manager

Ground Support Systems (Aust) is a privately owned business with branches in all mainland states. We specialise in the hire of Trench Support Systems, Pumps & Dewatering, Propping & temporary works along with associated equipment/services to the Civil, Construction, and Mining industries across Australia.

We are seeking an Operations Manager to join our team based in Ormeau, situated between Brisbane and the Gold Coast. This is an opportunity for a suitably experienced person to join the GSS organisation and become part of a leading player in the industry.

As the Operations Manager, you will be leading and managing a small but dynamic team of people, showing strong initiative, with the ability to make decisions in a busy work environment. Working with others to ensure  the effective allocation of resources including casual labour, you would also work closely with the sales team to not only maintain, but increase our customer base.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage the day to day operations of the branch 
• Complete stocktakes and reports as required
• Maintain effective internal communication with customers, co-workers and management
• Maintain effective communication with customers by phone and face to face as required
• Competent use of the the current software program
• Ensure yard is kept in a well maintained manner, in line with OH&S requirements
• Ensure maintenance/repairs of hire equipment is completed in a timely cost effective manner.
• Ensure that the workshop has an appropriate level of consumables
• Ensure hire equipment and materials are stored safely and correctly
   

Skills & Experience

• Experience in a similar role including proven staff management
• Above average computer skills and the ability to become competent in the Syrinx software platform
• Previous hire industry experience (preferable but not essential)
• Current forklift licence (preferable but not essential)
• Well developed verbal, written and telephone communications skills
• Ability to work autonomously and prioritise tasks as required
• Good attention to detail
• Be well presented and professional
• Current and valid car licence (required)
