The day to day The ALS Environmental Division in Newcastle seeks a full-time Laboratory Technician to train as a Phycologist and join a team that strives to exceed client expectations by delivering quality results on time. The successful applicant will receive on-the-job training in the technical components and procedures of the role, as well as a wide variety of laboratory processes associated with working in a modern Microbiological Laboratory. Responsibilities include: Preparation and analysis of water and marine sediment samples for a variety of tests throughout, ensuring that analytical procedures and associated tasks are conducted in accordance with the ALS Quality Work Instructions, including QA/QC. Organising designated tasks to maximise daily efficiencies. Completing all tasks and analyses within both the time set down by the supervisor and the relevant analysis standard. Highlighting anomalies in results, sample type, and sample behaviour. Preparation and analysis of microbiological samples. The Essentials Minimum 2-3 years experience in a similar role desirable but not essential Microbiological experience desired but not necessary Microscopy experience is also highly desirable.
