About the Role

We currently have Mine Operatoropportunities available at AGL Loy Yang based in the Latrobe Valley. These roles are responsible for the operation of large-scale plant and equipment in an open cut mining environment. We aim to be the best and most reliable supplier of brown coal in Australia. To achieve this, the Mine must continue to be a competitive, reliable, high quality and timely supplier of brown coal to its customers.

You will play a key role in ensuring that we achieve this objective. You will undertake training in accordance with an agreed training plan and after a period of initial training, move to a day and night 12-hour shift roster.

What you will be doing

• Operation of dredgers, stackers, dozers (both track and rubber-tyred), mobile plant, conveyors, and pumps.
• Assist in the provision of safe access to plant in accordance with access permit procedures. This includes the use of high and low voltage electrical equipment.
• Complete plant and vehicle inspections including fault reporting.
• Conduct major machine safety device testing.
• Undertake plant cleaning activities.
• Undertake the reporting of HSE hazards and incidents, contribute to investigations and participate in the development of HSE risk assessments.

About You

To be successful in this role you will demonstrate an understanding of mechanical systems and have a genuine interest in a career within the mining industry. You will be energetic, driven and possess strong communication, problem solving and analytical skills as you navigate your way around the operation of a mining environment.

• A commitment and capacity for ongoing learning as demonstrated by the completion of further studies such as a trade qualification.
• Highly developed reasoning and judgement skills for solving problems.
• Demonstrated genuine and ongoing commitment to the safety of yourself and others. 
• Highly developed communication, interpersonal and influencing skills.
• Demonstrated mechanical aptitude.
• Ability to work shift work across a 24/7, 365 day per year operation.
• Hold a valid and current Victorian Driver's license.
• Have an interest in a career in mining operations.
