With the recent awarding of additional mining contracts, MMS is seeking experienced Mine Production Superintendents to join our open pit mining team.
Role Overview:
As the Mine Production Superintendent, reporting to the Mining Manager, you will oversee mining operations, including drill and blast, load and haul activities. This position requires a comprehensive understanding of mining and haulage operations to ensure an efficient and safe mining operation.
This role is offered on an 8/6 FIFO roster from Perth, candidates residing in Kalgoorlie are also encouraged to apply.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and Implement Production Plans: Design and execute production plans focusing on safety, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness. Continuously monitor and adjust schedules to meet goals, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations.
Ensure High Standards of Mining Execution Quality: Oversee daily operations to maintain quality standards, conducting regular inspections and audits, and maintaining detailed records for accountability and improvement.
Manage Direct Reports: Lead and develop a team of mining professionals, providing mentorship, conducting performance evaluations.
Oversee Manning, Fleet, and Infrastructure: Assess staffing needs, coordinate equipment procurement and maintenance, and implement strategies to maximise fleet utilisation and minimise downtime.
Control Mining Activities and Costs: Monitor operational costs, analyse financial reports to identify cost-saving opportunities, and implement cost-control measures while maintaining productivity and safety.
Provide Expert Mining Advice: Offer strategic advice on complex mining challenges, collaborate with senior management on long-term strategies, and ensure activities align with best practices and industry developments.
Requirements:
Unrestricted Quarry Manager's Certificate
Extensive Leadership Experience: Proven leadership in the mining industry with the ability to manage diverse teams and large-scale operations focused on safety, efficiency, and performance.
Significant Open Cut Mining Experience: In-depth knowledge of open cut mining processes and techniques, including safety protocols and environmental management.
Familiarity with Australian Mining Regulations: Comprehensive knowledge of Australian mining laws, ensuring full compliance and staying updated with legislative changes.
