The Opportunity
In this role, you will report to the Senior Mine Surveyor and Senior Drill & Blast Engineer while working on a 4:3 roster at our Mount Marion mine in Western Australia. Your focus will be split evenly between the Survey and Drill & Blast Engineering departments.
Your primary responsibilities may include:
- Conducting comprehensive open pit mine surveying activities, ensuring accuracy and compliance with industry standards.
- Utilising advanced techniques to measure total volumes mined, stockpiled, and produced to facilitate precise reporting and operational planning.
- Leading end-of-month surveys and documenting findings to provide insights to optimise operational efficiency.
- Completing drill and blast designs, load maps, and tie-in designs using mine planning software.
- Performing weekly explosives and consumables forecasting and conducting magazine stocktake.
- Preparing daily, weekly, and monthly drill and blast reporting and validating the data.
What is Required?
Our ideal candidate will have a proven background in mine surveying, including an understanding of industry principles and best practices, ideally within open pit environments. We are also seeking someone who is keen to learn skills in drill and blast engineering.
Other key skills, experience, and qualifications:
- A tertiary qualification in surveying or mining engineering.
- Demonstrated proficiency in stockpile volume reconciliation.
- Exposure to a range of mining software applications, such as Surpac, Vulcan (or similar), Point Studio, SHOTPlus, and Blast IQ.
- Current WA Class C Driver’s Licence.
