About Us
Focus Minerals (FML) is a leading Australian gold explorer with tenure in Coolgardie and Laverton, two exciting gold regions in WA, and is the largest landholder in the Coolgardie goldfields with over 450sq km of tenements. Resumption of operations commenced in 2023 and FML has now commenced planning and execution phase of brining its Bonnie Vale underground operation online, located 10km north of its 1.2Mtpa Three Mile Hill processing plant.
The Role
The Senior Metallurgical Technician to provide technical support to activities relating to the Coolgardie Gold Operations (CGO) gold processing plant, by safely and effectively completing projects and metallurgical monitoring activities that will optimise and improve production outcomes.
Duties include:
- Organise and maintain the laboratory area in a safe and effect manor and work efficiently with any other co-occupants of the facility.
- Run metallurgical monitoring activities, including but not limited to bottle rolls, size analysis and spot assays checks as required.
- Participated in process improvement and cost reduction projects.
- Liaise with Mining and Geology departments as required to ensure ore haulage and grade delivered to ROM pad aligns with processing schedule.
- Contribute to continuous improvement process by looking for opportunities to improve plant efficiency through design, operating philosophy, learning from past performance, and implementing corrective actions.
- Attending operations prestart meetings.
- Complete Met Accounting activities as required.
- Provide written reports on test work results to Metallurgical team and wider site personnel as required.
- Provide input when required on reviews of plant performance against plan and investigate and report on variation to production targets.
- Provide Operational support to Gold room Operator as required.
- Other tasks as required from time to time.
About You
To be successful in this role you will have the following:
- Previous experience within a Metallurgical Technician position
- Extensive experience working with the gold
- Exposure to Citect software, Microsoft Office products and Pronto
- Knowledge of statutory safety relevant to a fixed plant
- Ability to lead a collaborative team environment
- Valid WA driver's licence
