The Opportunity
Our client GEMCO is located in the Northern Territory, on the West Coast of Groote Eylandt. They produce high grade Manganese Ore from an open-cut, strip-mining operation. This role for our new project is being offered on an 8/6 FIFO roster from any capital city in Australia.
About The Role
As the Mine Surveyor for Thiess at GEMCO, you will provide survey support to the operation and to assist the technical services group in the planning process. In addition, establish and maintain a system of survey marks adequate to complete mining work in an accurate and timely manner.
Additionally, you will:
- Monitor and carry out as required, general daily mine survey functions, including: blast block mark ups; monitoring of bench and floor levels; recording of drill sampling positions; monitoring of geotechnical parameters for mining and civil slopes and structures
- Monitor and survey equipment ensuring it is service and calibrated according to manufactures recommendations as directed
- Provide technical assistance to the mine planners to pick-up face positions and other data required for short term planning
- Assist in the development of site strategic management plans
- Communicate changes across the wider team
- Develop strong relationships with the operations team
- Weekly and Monthly production reporting
About You
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in Mining/Survey Engineering (or equivalent)
- 3-5 years' experience in the mining industry
- Planning, design and scheduling skills
- Strong Mining Software and MS Office experience
- Excellent behavioural, time management, analytical, verbal and written communication skills
