Flexible Advanced Skills Training Opportunities for Fellowed General Practitioners
Mid North Coast Local Health District (MNCLHD) is offering flexible advanced skills training opportunities for Fellowed General Practitioners wanting to acquire or maintain procedural skills for use in rural NSW, with competitive remuneration rates for the duration of training. Opportunities across various sites within the district:

• Anaesthetics - Port Macquarie Base Hospital
• Emergency Medicine - Coffs Harbour Health Campus & Kempsey District Hospital
• Paediatrics - Port Macquarie Base Hospital & Coffs Harbour Health Campus
• Palliative Care - Wauchope District Hospital

extends from the Port Macquarie Hastings Local Government Area in the south to Coffs Harbour Local Government Area in the north and provides healthcare services across a geographic area of approximately 11,335 square kilometres. Located midway between Brisbane and Sydney, the Mid North Coast boasts a relaxed outdoor lifestyle with beaches, world-class diving, fishing, bush walking, hiking and mountain bike trails all within a short drive.
What you'll be doing
Provision of a consistent generalist medical service to patients, coordination of clinical management of patients consistent with the plans of the Admitting Medical Officer and improvement in the continuity of care within name of service or facility and between the hospital and community.
It is recognised that General Practitioners undertaking procedural training are most likely to have established practices therefore training may be flexible to allow continuation of part time work in the practice. The procedural training specialty should be appropriate to the service needs of the rural community in which they intend to practice. Recruitment will be focused on GPs proposing to take up rural practice who are residing in or are prepared to reside and practice as a General Practitioner in rural NSW.
The General Practice Procedural Trainee will be engaged as a Senior Registrar under the Public Hospital Medical Officers (State) Award 2023 with a salary of $156,494 per annum. The Trainees will receive an allowance to increase total remuneration to the level of Staff Specialist Level 1, Year 5 as per the Staff Specialists (State) Award 2023, in line with Award increases.
Occupational Assessment, Screening and Vaccination against Specified Infectious Diseases
If you are applying for a Category A position, under the NSW Health Policy Directive , evidence of current immunity status that complies with the policy must be supplied.
COVID-19 Vaccination Compliancy
All NSW Health workers are required to have completed a primary course of a COVID-19 vaccine which has been approved or recognised by the Therapeutics Goods Administration (TGA). Additionally, Category A workers are required to receive a booster dose three months after completing the primary course of COVID-19 vaccinations.
New applicants must have completed the vaccination course prior to commencement with NSW Health or provide an approved medical contraindication certificate (IM011 immunisation medical exemption form) certifying the worker cannot have any approved COVID-19 vaccines available in NSW.
Acceptable proof of vaccination is the Australian Immunisation Register (AIR) Immunisation History Statement or AIR COVID-19 Digital Certificate. Booster doses are highly recommended for all health care workers who have completed the primary course of COVID-19 vaccinations.
Selection Criteria * Fellowship of Royal Australasian College of General Practitioners and / or Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine

• High level skills and involvement in clinical care, supervision, mentoring and teaching. Able to exercise a moderate degree of professional independence.
• Demonstrated skills in and commitment to improvements in clinical care, patient safety and risk management processes, including the ability to work in multidisciplinary teams to achieve change.
• High level interpersonal communication and team skills
• Effective communication skills for working within health care organisations and the outside community, including capacity to use electronic communications (e.g. electronic records) effectively.
• Evidence of participation in continuing professional development and commitment to the broader service objectives of the public health system, including the effective utilisation of resources, and participation in activities beyond direct patient care
• Demonstrated commitment to practicing medicine and advanced skill in a regional or rural setting in New South Wales
