Motel all rounder

We are a family-owned motel, located in the heart of Victor Harbor and just walking distance to the Causeway to Granite Island, restaurants, café’s and the Cockle Train. Offering 19 guest rooms including family rooms, executive suites and a spa unit, we are seeking a Motel all-rounder to be a part of our talented and bubbly team.  

As a casual Motel all-rounder, you will play an important role in the day-to-day operations of the motel, with duties including housekeeping and providing an exceptional standard of customer service. You will have the opportunity to learn all aspects of motel operations and the role would suit someone seeking to enter the field with a background in either cleaning or customer service. You will work closely with the motel manager and head housekeeper to ensure each guest is provided a welcoming and personalised experience, with on-the-job training provided for the right candidate.

Duties include, but are not limited to: 

• Making beds and general room cleans (involves upper-level floors and stairs).
• Cleaning vents, fans, windows and adhering to a deep cleaning schedule.
• General tidying of communal areas.
• Answering phones, welcoming guests and upholding a high level of customer service.
• Adhering to WHS policies.
• Managing reservations, guest reviews and check-ins which involve cash handling.
• Handling guest enquiries which may include the overnight on-call phone occasionally.  
• Generating the housekeeping roster.

We are looking for someone who:

• Demonstrates the ability to use their initiative to solve any issues as they arise.
• Can work autonomously.
• Lives on the beautiful Fleurieu Peninsula and can demonstrate local area knowledge.
• Has experience with cash handling/customer service.
• Has previously used RMS, Opera, Newbook, Abode or another PMS. (Desired, not essential).
• Holds a valid drivers license and has their own vehicle.
• Has experience in housekeeping/cleaning. (Desired, not essential).
• Holds a valid police clearance (or the willingness to obtain one).
• Possesses a high attention to detail and clear/confident communication skills.
• Has experience with MS Office.
• Has a positive can-do attitude and genuinely enjoys meeting new people.

You must be flexible to work over a 7-day roster, including public holidays (penalty rates apply), with hours varying from 4 to 15+ per week when staff are on leave or during busy periods.
