- Assisting Marine Fitter to install engines, jet units, rudders, shafts and fuel systems on new vessels and existing vessels to pass survey.
- Work Standards: To be measured by job being completed on budget and time and no faults.
- Maintain work vehicles with servicing and repairs.
- Work Standards:
- To be measured by on time servicing as per Vehicle Register
- To attend vessels in breakdown scenarios to diagnose and recommend appropriate solutions.
- Being able to take engines apart including steering systems, transmission, and other parts.
- Finding faults in the mechanical and electrical parts of the engine
- To carry out services as per service requirements for engines including routine oil changes, tune-ups to ensure engines remain compliant with pollution requirements.
- Repair and replace parts such as air filters, belts etc as per service schedules.
- Being able to put engines back together after service has been performed.
- Fine tuning parts after installation for correct performance
- Using electronic equipment to assist with the detection of faults and testing new and used equipment.
- Assist with SeaTrials to ensure engines are working as per manufacturer’s requirements.
- Also ensure all work vehicles are roadworthy.
- Performing routine maintenance and inspections on various vehicle makes and models.
- Identifying and troubleshooting mechanical and electrical issues.
- Repairing and replacing faulty components, such as engines, transmissions, brakes, and suspension systems
- At least 3 years’ experience in a similar position
- CertificateIII in Automotive Mechanical Technology
- Can work within a team.
- Can work unsupervised.
- Have good written and verbal communication skills.
- Meet strict deadlines.
- Sound time management and people skills.
