We are seeking dynamic and passionate clinicians or MST Practitioners, to join our MST team in the North.
You don’t need to be a current MST Practitioner to apply! We will provide ongoing training and intensive supervision to help upskill you to practice from this highly evidence-based framework. In fact, ongoing learning and development are key attributes of a what makes a great MST Practitioner.
With a motto of “whatever it takes”, MST is an innovative, evidence-based program that empowers young people involved in offending and other antisocial behaviour and their families to build the skills to achieve positive, long-term changes and improved life outcomes.
An MST Practitioners is driven, enthusiastic, knowledgeable and has the skills to deliver evidence-based treatment to young people with complex presentations and their families. With ongoing access to training and support, and weekly supervision as a core aspect of MST, working in a small team you will share CAMHS’s vision of providing quality, accessible, consumer-centred mental health care to some of Tasmania’ s most vulnerable young people.

The Role:
Deliver highly specialised clinical interventions to improve young people’s lives, including remaining at home and in the community by addressing the correlates of behaviour.
Work intensively with a small caseload of young people with complex needs, working primarily to empower their families and caregivers.
Adhere to the MST model, establishing strong engagement with families and other key supports in the family, school, and community.
Conduct assessments with young people and the systems that impact them, including family, peers, school, and community, to identify risks and strengths and develop therapeutic interventions.
Details of Appointment:
Permanent, full time, day worker (with on-call) position, working 76 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible.
Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time and part time vacancies.
Position Features:
Highly mobile, non-clinic based, with flexible hours of operation.
Participation in an oncall roster is a requirement.
Some intrastate travel is required.
Location:
Launceston, TasmaniaSalary:
$101,108 - $119,430 per annum + 11% superannuation
Salary range is in accordance with Allied Health Professionals Public Sector Unions Wages Agreement No. 2 of 2022
In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available:
Please note that access to salaries beyond $109,964 is subject to qualifications and/or application to the personal upgrade scheme.
Eligibility:
Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria:
Registered with the Psychology Board of Australia, or
Degree in Social Work giving eligibility for membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers.
Current Tasmanian Working with Children Registration.
Current Driver’s Licence.
Applicants should note the following criteria are desirable:
Postgraduate qualification in Psychology, Social Work or related field, or working towards a postgraduate qualification in a related discipline.
Experience in therapeutic approaches consistent with MST including cognitive and behavioural therapy, family system treatment and ecological approaches including cognitive and behavioural therapy, family system treatment and ecological approaches.
Experience/expertise in child and adolescent mental health and/or Child Development.
Knowledge of contemporary juvenile and criminal justice issues.
Experience implementing evidence-based programs.
