Music tutors at Saint Stephen’s College work alongside students to guide, encourage, inspire and motivate them on their musical journey through lessons, home practice and involvement in College ensembles.
Duties include but are not limited to:
• Continuing to build our brass studio through high-quality individual and paired lessons
• Designing and implementing a comprehensive and appropriately sequenced learning program for students with a focus on reading
• Preparing students for solo performances and examinations as required
• Delivering group lessons for students in the Consolidations Instrumental Music Program
• Team-teaching rehearsals with other instrumental tutors for the Year 5 and 6 Band
• Assisting in the presentation of regular department soirees, concerts, eisteddfod and assembly performances
• Performing administrative tasks including accurate and complete records of student progress and preparation of semesterly reports
• Establishing warm and regular communication with parents to ensure participation whilst providing regular direction and feedback

• Demonstrate and practice effective written, verbal and non-verbal communication.
• Excellent personal organisation, planning and time management skills including the ability to prioritise tasks to meet deadlines.
• Genuine commitment to the ideals of independent schools, including the preparedness to attend extracurricular activities, as appropriate to the role.

• A proactive and professional approach that demonstrates initiative, flexibility and a high level of motivation.
• Understanding of the need for confidentiality and the sensitivity of information, while maintaining strong relationships with a range of stakeholders.
• Excellent knowledge and experience teaching in a primary and secondary schooling environment

• Demonstrate, follow and support the policies and procedures of the College
• Maintain a degree of flexibility in working hours from time to time
• Accept that the College reserves the right to modify the position

Mandatory Clearances/Certifications
