Position Overview

This role is an excellent career growth opportunity, leading the Marketing function for a National Sporting Organisation in a World Cup year and in preparation for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games.

As the National Marketing & Growth Manager, you will spearhead the expansion of softball's footprint in Australia, leveraging our national teams, international events, content opportunities and community to ignite widespread enthusiasm for the sport. Additionally, you will serve as the primary liaison for all commercial partnerships and key stakeholders.

We seek a dynamic professional with a passion for member engagement and a track record of strategic marketing initiatives. Using your enthusiasm and creative experience, the role will seek data-driven insights and develop marketing strategies and promotions in conjunction with stakeholders to raise the profile of softball and increase participation throughout the country.

Organisation Overview

Softball Australia is the National Sporting Organisation (NSO) for the sport and has eight member States and Territories across the country. There are over 23,000 members and over 100K players, coaches, umpires and officials in Australia ranging from grassroots through to elite talent.

Softball Australia has recently launched its new five-year strategic plan with a vision that softball is for everybody and inspiring heroes on the world stage. Our purpose is to promote and develop a thriving and attractive national sport that builds friendships, community, and elite skills to successfully compete. We do well, we do good, and we have fun!

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and execute Softball Australia's marketing strategy and annual plans in alignment with organisational objectives.

• Manage the annual marketing budget and invoicing processes.

• Collaborate with State Operations Managers to address marketing and commercial partnership requirements for Member States/Territories.

• Lead brand development and management efforts, including the creation of visual style guides and communication protocols.

• Identify and cultivate new revenue streams and philanthropic opportunities, while enhancing existing partnerships.

• Manage marketing activations and events for commercial partners.

• Oversee relationships with commercial partners and stakeholders.

• Provide guidance and supervision to the Digital Content and Engagement Officer and seasonal interns for content and communication deliverables.

• Manage external content delivery partners, including live streaming and photography services.

• Draft communications materials for key stakeholders.

• Plan and execute end-to-end advertising campaigns.

• Regularly report marketing and commercial performance to the CEO and State Operations Managers.

• Undertake other duties as required.

Selection Criteria

• Degree in Marketing or related field.

• Proven experience in marketing and commercial roles, preferably within the sports industry.

• Demonstrated proficiency in stakeholder management.

• Track record of securing and servicing commercial sponsors.

• Strong analytical skills with the ability to derive actionable insights from data.

• Excellent written communication skills.

• Proficient in Microsoft 365 applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).

• Possession of a Working with Children’s Check and First Aid Certificate (or willingness to obtain).

• Preferable: Proficiency in Canva, Adobe InDesign, and Adobe Illustrator.
