The Opportunity
WSP has an exciting opportunity for a passionate, technically proficient and people-focused leader who is ready for the next step in their career at a Global Tier 1 Consultancy Firm.
The role of National Security Discipline Lead is the leadership position within the Technology Systems Business unit. The successful candidate will work with the multiple Business Units within WSP to ensure that all services that fall under the Security discipline (Electronic Security, Physical Security & Cyber) are delivered to the highest level.
The National Security Discipline Lead will also be responsible for leading a team of designers, consultants and engineers located across Australia and NZ. Team leadership responsibilities in this role include team culture, performance, staff, clients, business development, tenders, discipline strategy and project delivery. for the ANZ representative in the WSP Security Group.
Travel will be expected from time to time based on project requirements and locations. Candidates will have the option to be located in Brisbane, Sydney or Melbourne but must work on projects located across Australia, New Zealand and internationally.
Drawing on your design and consulting experience in delivering major projects you will have a desire to lead and structure an efficient team servicing both major projects and key clients. You are a strong collaborator and work well with teams at multiple levels, drawing on your leadership, client service and technical experience.
Responsibilities
The successful applicant will be engaged in a diverse role that includes:
  • Acting as a technical leader for the Security team ensuring you develop and share knowledge with your team members and other employees within WSP.
  • Winning and/or delivery of projects or business results, across the range of people, clients, and excellence indicators.
  • Lead major aviation, transport infrastructure, defence & healthcare projects in a security capacity and meet delivery requirements.
  • Understanding of Security risk and technology requirements for various industry sectors
  • Develop a strategy for Security Discipline to specifically target key sectors and markets
  • Implement processes within the business to deliver services efficiently, consistently and to a high quality
  • Understanding of the latest security technologies and trends. Willingness to continue to learn to ensure you are able to stay up to date with the latest advancements, regulations, and best practices.
  • Project and design management excellence.
  • Establish and maintain effective relationships with clients/customers.
  • Take responsibility for the delivery of individual projects including technical quality, budget, and programme.
  • Ensure delivery of projects in accordance with WSP's Quality Standards.
  • Create, maintain, and lead high-performing engaged teams through effective communication, feedback, and support of all team members.
  • Support and foster the development of documentation, automation tools and training to develop security SMEs.
  • Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior team members and build your own career through professional development, industry thought leadership and training.
  • Active participation in industry events
Your Skills and Experience
You are likely to have or be able to demonstrate the following skills and experience:
  • Demonstrated experience in managing major projects in a security capacity and meeting delivery requirements. Proven problem-solving skills and ability to tackle complex issues.
  • Flexible mindset with the ability to adapt to changing needs of projects based on client needs, technologies and industry trends.
  • Experience in successfully leading and developing teams
  • Demonstrated commercial acumen, and the ability to develop a strong client base
  • Knowledge of the market for consulting services
  • An effective leader with tenacity and drive to achieve outstanding results and grow the team. Must be able to inspire, motivate and guide the team towards a common goal.
  • Collaborative; willing to share knowledge, experience, ideas, and expertise for the betterment of group and self
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
  • Strong client focus with business development experience
  • Understanding project margin and cost utilisation experience
  • Minimal 15+ years of relevant experience
  • Security Licences in at least one State in Australia
  • Certifications / Accreditations in at least one of the following areas, SCEC, Type 1A Security Alarm Systems
  • Ability to obtain NV1 Defence Clearance
