Natural Assets Officer - Bush Fire Risk Management

Implement the adopted Bush Fire Risk Management Plan and develop and deliver strategies and programs to mitigate Bush Fire Risk on BVSC managed land. Plan and undertake works on assets within BVSC Natural Areas.As Natural Assets Officer, you will provide specialist advice on Bush Fire Risk mitigation measures and actions as well as liaise with the NSW RFS and Local Aboriginal Land Councils to coordinate planned burning on BVSC managed land. You will develop and implement (in conjunction with the NSW RFS) BVSC’s annual bushfire hazard management program to ensure consistency with the Far South Coast Bush Fire Risk Management Plan including the annual maintenance program for Council’s Asset Protection Zone (APZ) network, including slashing and vegetation management works.To view the Position Description, pleaseAbout YouWe are seeking an individual who holds a tertiary qualification in Natural Resource Management, Bushfire Planning and Management, Forest Management or other related discipline and has a current NSW Class C Drivers Licence.You will have the following skills and experience;

• Demonstrated through knowledge and/or experience in bushFire Risk Management, standards and legislation.
• High level written and verbal communication skills including the ability to liaise and negotiate effectively with internal and external stakeholders on complex environmental matters.
• Demonstrated skills in interpreting and applying legislation relevant to local government and the environment.
• Two (2) years natural areas management related experience (indicative).

BenefitsThis is a permanent part time position working 21 hours per week.The total remuneration package for this position commences at $101,528.78 (paid pro-rata) gross per annum, comprising of:

• $1,751.10* per week base salary
• $201.38* per week superannuation (calculated at 11.5%)

• Remuneration is paid pro-rata for part-time employees.
