Now we just need you.Responsibilities:A real endeavour, shaped by youAs Naval Architect - Hull & Structure you will assist in meeting assurance obligations, through managing a team of specialist personnel in Hull and Structure Group, planning and conducting naval construction assurance, the review of existing technical artefacts and specifications, provision of technical advice, and articulation of risk.To succeed in this endeavour, you will:

• Manage a team of technical personnel in the Hull and Structure Group;
• Manage assurance activities related to structural fabrication and construction of ship assemblies
• Conduct reviews of technical artefacts, specifications and reports and provide technical advice and recommendations
• Engage with internal and external stakeholders including Project Office(s), Shipbuilder(s) and Classification Society surveyors on the Commonwealth's behalf;
• Review and recommend changes to internal plans, processes and procedures; and
• Provide assistance to the Commonwealth addressing Naval Architecture issues and related matters as they arise.

Qualifications:A real endeavour, driven by youOur work is highly complex and confidential, so there are some things you must have to fulfil this role:

• You must have and maintain a minimum Negative Vetting 1 (NV1) security clearance as required by the Commonwealth.
• You shall be suitably qualified to undertake naval construction assurance activities and risk assessments as agreed and directed by the Commonwealth.
• You shall have primary qualifications in engineering and shall be a recognised expert in the area of Naval Architecture or Ship Structures, and possess the following qualifications: A Bachelor of Engineering from an Australian institution, or a qualification gained elsewhere, that satisfies the requirements of the Washington Accord for recognition as a Professional Engineer; Have at least ten (10) years full time experience working in the naval engineering sector, with demonstrable experience relating to Naval Architecture or construction assurance; or Certified to other internationally recognised standard acceptable to the Commonwealth.
