NDI Technician - Level 2Company: Boeing Aerostructures Australia Pty LtdJob ID: 00000428119Date Posted: 2024-06-18Location: AUS - Port Melbourne, AustraliaJob Description Qualifications:To increase the flexibility of our NDT team we are currently seeking a Non Destructive Inspection (NDI) Technicians - Level 2 (Ultrasonic Technique (UT)) to join our Quality team at Boeing Aerostructures Australia.This is a full-time, permanent opportunity based onsite at our Port Melbourne facility.The successful candidate would preferably have other approved methods (per NAS410) such as Eddy Current (ET), Radiography (RT) and / or Dye Penetrant (FT)).The role requires the flexibility for the successful incumbent to work on a rotating shift across day, afternoon or night as per business requirements.Position Responsibilities:
- Operate Ultrasonic Machines including but not limited to: AUSS (Automated Ultrasonic Scanning Systems), C-Scan Tank, Boeing Through Transmission Unit, Portable Ultrasonic Units
- Operate BAA RT, Digital, Computerized equipment
- Operate Eddy Current equipment
- Complete Fluorescent Dye Penetrant NDT operations
- Responsible for the inspection, collection and interpretation of quality data
- Daily management of NDI equipment, including autonomous maintenance, calibration and notification of appropriate authorities when break downs occurs
- Provide training and technical assistance to other technicians in the interpretation of engineering and test data, use of engineering design standards, manufacturing processes and problem diagnosis; and overseeing functional testing
- Responsible for managing daily product flow through NDI, including management of schedules and communications of daily production requirements/issues to following shifts
- Certified Level 2 UT NDT Technician with current or previous Level 2 experience in RT and experience in at least one of ET and / or FT
- Provision of objective evidence such as training, hours worked in each method to support the Level 2 certification/training/examination requirements
- Technical understanding of the bonding processes and the NDI issues that surround them
- Have knowledge and skills to draft an NDI technique from initial concept with guidance from the Level III personnel
- Computer literacy with Microsoft Office, NDT software packages (AUSS, Focus PX etc.)
- Demonstrated communication, decision-making, problem solving and a safety first mindset
