Support Coordinator - Yarra Valley/Ranges and Surrounds

Wages: $50 per hour plus Super 11% plus Portable Long Service Leave
Recovery Options is a boutique registered NDIS provider, set up to bridge the gap between large style corporate organisations and those wanting a more personalised service.
Recovery Options is the Premier National Disability Insurance Scheme provider servicing the Yarra Valley and surrounds. It services areas in the Outer East of Melbourne such as Warburton, Launching Place, Lilydale, Chirnside Park, Bayswater, Boronia, Mitcham, Healsville, etc).
We currently have a position for a Support Coordinator to manage a case load of approx. 30-40 participants with a range of physical and psychosocial disabilities.
As a Support Coordinator, you play a crucial role in assisting participants to navigate the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) and access the right supports. The below attributes are essential skills for success in this role:
Interpersonal Skills: Building trust and rapport with clients through empathy and respect is vital. You’ll work closely with participants, their families, and carers, so effective communication and understanding are key.
Communication Skills: Active listening and clear communication are essential. You’ll need to convey information to both clients and service providers, ensuring everyone is on the same page.
Problem-Solving Abilities: Support Coordinators often encounter complex situations. Being able to analyse challenges, find solutions, and overcome barriers is crucial.
Organisational Skills: Coordinating various supports and services requires excellent organisational abilities. You’ll manage schedules, appointments, and documentation.
Knowledge of NDIS Processes: A detailed understanding of NDIS planning, rules, and reporting requirements is necessary. You’ll help participants use their NDIS plans effectively and stay within budget.
Flexibility and Adaptability: Participants’ needs can vary widely. Being adaptable and open to different situations ensures effective support coordination.
Each participant’s circumstances are unique, so your ability to tailor your approach and provide personalised assistance is crucial. Whether it’s helping someone understand their NDIS plan, connecting them with support providers, or addressing unexpected events, your skills will make a positive impact on participants lives and the local community.
Preference will be given to individuals who have a nursing background. LAC's and disability support workers are encouraged to apply.

Ideal previous experience would include but not limited to:
· Support Coordination
-Specialist Support Coordination
· Nursing
- working as an LAC
- Case Management
- Occupational Therapy
- Social Work
- Community Development
Mandatory:
· 2 Years of Support Coordination Experience
· NDIS Screening Check
· NDIS Orientation Module
· Working with Children’s Check (employment purpose) or prepared to obtain upon employment.
Desired but not mandatory:
Tertiary Qualifications: Social Work, Community development, Occupational Therapy or equivalent
Diploma in Disability Care
Div. 1 / Div. 2 Nursing qualification
Cert IV in Disability
Cert III or Cert IV in Aged Care
