Location: Strathpine, Queensland
Seeking a polite, respectable and resilient Support Worker to support a man in his 40's in the Strathpine area. Roster is a consistent 15hrs/week in the evenings and on Saturdays. Ideal for a uni student or similar. Once the ideal candidate/s have been found, pending their skills and availability, other work may be offered as well.
Required Shifts:
Tuesday 2-5pm - Assistance With Daily Living (Cleaning)
Wednesday 2-5pm - Assistance With Daily Living (Shopping)
Thursday 4-6pm - Assistance With Daily Living (Cleaning)
Friday 5-9pm - Community Access
Saturday 9am-12pm Community Access (hours and times vary dependent on Community Access activity).
What the participant is looking for:
- Someone respectful and well mannered
- Someone to help me develop my skills at home and in the community
- I prefer people who are comfortable with the quiet, I mostly prefer to complete my jobs quietly, though will sometimes have conversations while we work
- I work best with people who are gentle yet firm, with good time management and organisational skills
- Someone who is good at coming up with ideas for activities that suit me/ I will enjoy
- Someone who is patient and will wait for me to complete my tasks without hurrying or nagging me
- Someone who has some flexibility in my shift times if I have an appointment or a day off work
- Someone who can drive, as my shifts include being picked up from work and/or accessing the community
Key Requirements:
- Strong communication skills to effectively engage and interact with individuals with disabilities and mental health challenges.
- Excellent problem-solving skills to provide tailored support to meet the unique needs and goals of our clients.
- A commitment to helping individuals achieve their individual goals and lead more independent lives.
- Knowledge of disabilities and mental health to provide empathetic and person-centered support.
- A valid Queensland driver's license.
- Access to a reliable, fully insured vehicle for transportation.
- A Working With Children (Blue Card), and NDIS Worker Screening (Yellow Card) Checks or the ability to obtain one. (Note: A Blue Card is a requirement for working with children and vulnerable adults in Queensland).
