The opportunity
Innovations is the software / solution development unit of Pentana Solutions. This department is responsible for developing and maintaining software for Pentana Solutions products throughout the world. Innovations encapsulates software development teams, infrastructure teams and product management teams. Innovations collaborates closely with the Operations department for product delivery and support, as well as with the Sales department for development requests and estimates.
The Distribution development business unit specifically focus on development of Distribution software to the requirements, expectations, as well as compliance and industry standard.
Design, write, test and maintain computer programs based on customer’s business requirements and systems or application demands. Review and assist in developing efficient coding standards for easy maintenance and maximising performance. Provide technical consultation to Product Managers (PM) and Business Analysts (BA) to complete functional designs and/or software development work.
This is a fixed-term contract role for 18 months, with the possibility of extension or conversion to a permanent position and is a full time, five days work onsite in the office.
Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Ensure that all software developments follow all steps in the software development lifecycle.
- Ensure all program changes are completed to functional and technical specification.
- Ensure all projects are completed according to agreed timelines.
- Work closely with Product Manager to understand and achieve functional requirements.
- Review and manage project development timelines.
- Create technical specifications from approved functional specifications provided from PM or BA
- Analyse and provide accurate development estimates on projects/tasks.
- Ensure all technical documentation is updated with approved change request where applicable.
- Communicate roadblocks to BA and/or PM
- Communicate changes of programs on open tasks within the same program to BA and/or PM
- All programming headers and comments are inserted following guideline standards.
- All programming changes are well documented for maintainability.
- Review program strategies to improve structure of code to reduce bottlenecks.
- Test cases are clearly documented for tasks before submission of task to BA or PM.
- Unit testing results are clearly documented for tasks before submission of task to BA or PM.
- Assist with technical support bug fixes where requested.
- Attend functional and/or technical meetings with 3rd parties for integration projects.
- Support customers when piloting projects/tasks or during release periods.
- Daily timesheets (worklogs) are completed for reporting.
- Provide professional customer service, both internally and externally.
- Meet deadlines as agreed with the business or customer.
- Update and prepare communications on the progress of projects and tasks.
- Maintain and regularly review own Drive 21 Personal Goals/KPI’s.
WHO YOU ARE
Professionally:
- IT degree
- A background in the automotive industry is highly desirable.
- .NET development
- MS SQL
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
- UI/Front experience/exposure
- 5+ years of software ERP development experience (except for students)
Personally:
- Self-initiated
- Self-motivated, with an ability to work under pressure
- Strong team player
- Pragmatic approach when working on project tasks.
- Good attention to detail and high standards
- Ability to work under pressure and handle multiple projects at once.
- Ability to communicate clearly with all levels of the team (PM,BA, Development Manager)
