About the role;
The Network Engineer is responsible for the day-to-day operations, maintenance, deployment and security of the P&N Bank network and security infrastructure. This role encompasses the LAN, WAN, Firewall, IPS and computer security systems in use at P&N Bank.
Working as part of an inclusive and collaborative team your key responsibilities will include:
- Monitor performance and ensure that the security and uptime of the LAN, WAN, Firewall and voice infrastructure is maintained to the levels defined by the departmental service standards
- Provide level 2/3 support and troubleshooting to resolve operational issues
- Plan and coordinate maintenance activities of the data network
- Responsible for any changes made to the network infrastructure, including the moving of existing equipment and installation of new equipment
- Ensure all network and patch panel documentation and diagrams are developed as necessary and maintained accordingly
- Configuration and management of networking and security devices across the network
- Schedule and conduct network DR Failover test and participate in BCP tests as required
- Liaise with third party vendors and other personnel for problem resolution
- Contribute to the negotiation of support contracts with third party organisations
- Participate in on-call and out-of-hours call-out and planned work as required
- Design, build and release network solutions to meet business, service and lifecycle network security requirements
- Contribute to the establishment of Project Briefs, Project Plans and agreed deliverables
- Contribute expert IT knowledge to support and direct project decisions
- Liaise with the project sponsor, vendors and consultants
What will you bring?
- Three years’ experience in a complex IT infrastructure environment incorporating planning, implementation, operational management, configuration and maintenance of network
- Hands-on experience with monitoring, network diagnostic and network analytics tools
- High level understanding of Cisco Networking technology and other IT infrastructure
- Good level of understanding of Cisco Call Manager Systems and applications
- High level understanding of Cisco and Checkpoint Firewall products and other IT Security infrastructure
- Sound knowledge/experience of VMWare ESX server platform
- Advanced analysis, problem solving, troubleshooting and consultative skills
- Familiarity with scripting languages like Python or PowerShell and experience using a distributed version control system
- An understanding of a financial services operating environment and core applications and products
- Degree in IT or equivalent discipline
- Cisco Certified Network Associate (Security)
- Cisco Certified Network Professional or Cisco Certified Design Professional qualifications
